We've been following a 3-Hour Eating Plan since August, 2006. To-date, Jerry has lost and kept off 50 pounds — and Mary Jane's chronic digestive problems have virtually disappeared.
Nevertheless, it's a pain in the neck to constantly count calories, and always have the right amount of food ready for your next meal. Believe us, until you get acclimated to the schedule, it seems like you're preparing to eat all the time!
And, yet, research has shown . . .
If you don't want your body to go into "starvation" mode (where it starts to horde fat, primarily around your belly), you need to eat within an hour of waking up — and then again approximately 3 hours after your previous meal, until dinner. (Visit Guidelines to review the basic dietary info.)
If you want your stomach to have enough juice to properly process the food, you need to let your last meal digest, and your internal fire rebuild itself. Studies show that, regardless of body size, this takes around 3 hours (give or take 20 minutes).
